MEET ME
MEET BRIDGET
______
ONE DAY I LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR, AND WAS SURPRISED AT THE FACE STARING BACK AT ME.
When did I get the deeper lines and sagging skin? I also noticed that I was having aches and pains I’d never had before. At my yearly physical, my cholesterol was higher, my blood pressure was elevated, my blood sugar was higher than usual,
and let’s not even mention what the scale said! I had noticed that my energy level was low, and I had been having bouts of low level depression for no apparent reason. My initial thought was that I had hit the age where everything begins to fall apart, and it would be downhill from there. But I was not willing to accept that. So I began a quest to find out if I could really stop and reverse those changes in this new stage of life.

MY STORY
I’ve had a lifelong love of health and fitness, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t had struggles with both!
One thing I know for sure is that health is fluid, it changes with different stages of life, with times of stress, and with aging. In my younger years, health was mostly about the physical aspect. The desire to be thin and strong, and look good in my swimsuit was the focus. Then as I entered my 30’s and 40’s, I began to think more about eating for energy to keep up with active boys. I began working for a popular weight loss center, which helped me maintain healthy eating habits and an ideal weight. But then in my late 40’s, I entered perimenopause and everything changed. All of a sudden, what had always worked didn’t anymore.
That’s when I began a quest to find what worked for me. I began to study nutrition and try different types of exercise. I picked the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and The Institute for the Psychology of Eating certification programs because they taught me that nutrition is not just about food, but is also about physical, emotional, and spiritual nutrition. It’s important to balance all aspects of one’s health. Achieving and maintaining health is an ongoing, ever-changing process that doesn’t have to be confusing and difficult.
